Dual Language
The Dual Language program is designed for English-speaking students who wish to become fluent in Spanish. The mission of Floresville ISD is to ensure academic achievement utilizing research based strategies that support the student’s linguistic, affective, cognitive, and cultural needs. Students enter the program in Kindergarten (Pre-K if qualifications are met) and are instructed by a certified bilingual teacher. The curriculum for language arts/reading and mathematics is delivered entirely in Spanish in Kindergarten and 1st Grade, while science and social studies are presented in English. Students are expected to continue in the program until 5th Grade. The goal of the dual language program to promote high academic achievement for all students, develop first and second language skills, and promote cross-cultural understanding for all students.
