FLORESVILLE, Texas — The Floresville ISD Board of Trustees named Michael “Mike” Schroller as the lone finalist for superintendent during its October 5 board meeting, following a search that included an open application process, community input, and candidate interviews.
The superintendent application period opened in August and drew a number of applicants. Hundreds of community members responded to a survey seeking input on the district’s priorities and the qualities they wanted in its next superintendent. Trustees reviewed applications and interviewed several candidates to evaluate their experience, leadership approach, and vision for Floresville ISD.
“Selecting our next superintendent is one of the most important responsibilities we have as trustees,” said Board President Stephen Shodrock. “We took the time to listen to our community and carefully evaluate the candidates. We believe Mike’s experience, understanding of our district, and commitment to students make him the right person to lead Floresville ISD forward. We appreciate everyone who shared their priorities and helped inform this decision.”
“Floresville ISD has been part of my life as a student, educator, and administrator, and I am honored by the board’s confidence in me,” Schroller said. “My priority is to listen to our students, staff, and families, build on the progress we’ve made, and address the areas where we can improve. I look forward to earning our community’s trust through open communication and following through on our commitments.”
Schroller currently serves as FISD’s Assistant Superintendent of Operations and Student Services. A 1992 Floresville High School graduate, he has dedicated more than two decades to the district, serving as a teacher, coach, campus administrator, and district administrator. His experience includes leadership at every campus level, oversight of district operations and student services, and work in facilities planning, safety, and security.
Texas law requires at least 21 days between public notice of a superintendent finalist and the board’s final action on employment. The board anticipates considering Schroller’s employment on October 26, 2026, during a Special Board meeting.
